THE FIRST SPECIALIST OCD TRAINING PROGRAMME

We have condensed 15 years of specialist experience to offer a module based training from basic to advanced skills and sub-type specific techniques for this client group.
Since medication offers varying and often limited benefits for OCD, effective psychotherapy plays a vital role in recovery outcomes. Additionally, the complex presentation of OCD with multiple sub-types across a matrix of obsessions and compulsions often adversely impacted by co-occurring conditions means that training is vital.
Our comprehensive training includes case studies, video sessions, cognitive behavioural and acceptance based techniques, skills practice and recovered client panels.
Our Excellence in OCD qualification is a unique specialist training protocol for professionals. Based on 16 years of experience, our theoretical & practical learning interface is unique and relevant for unqualified or qualified practitioners with an option to join our highly trained network of OCD specialist professionals.

OCD EXCELLENCE PRACTITIONER
The course is a combination of online study with web conferencing and weekend workshops for skills practice and reinforcement.
Each module can be completed in a week or at the pace of the user via a dedicated learning management system and culminates in a progress test. The optimum completion time for all modules is 3 to 4 months.
The workshops will be held 4 times per year with interactive skills teams and guest speakers.
It is intended for currently practising professionals in the public or private mental health sectors, or in organisations such as schools, colleges, corporations or non-profits where they have responsibility for pastoral care.
It is also intended for those wishing to move into this field who have no experience or qualifications. They can complete an accredited Advanced Cognitive Therapy Diploma so that they can emerge from the course prepared to embark upon their therapeutic career.
We look forward to welcoming clients and people with OCD who are managing their symptoms. We also look forward to welcoming their carers who have a wealth of experience in OCD. The course includes the following modules:
PREPARATION, INTRODUCTION & EDUCATION:
This module is an introduction to OCD and its various sub-types. It is the fundamental building block to our course and is a mandatory module.
You will learn all about OCD, what it is, how it presents and it's epidemiology. We then combine the Evidence Based Research with our own experiences to fully understand how OCD interacts with the individual, why they act and think the way they do.
INCLUDED ADVANCED CBT DIPLOMA (OPTIONAL)
For those who don't have a therapy-related diploma or equivalent, this provides a general cognitive behavioural qualification to support the specialist OCD Excellence . It is a distance-based learning format for convenience and accessibility. Completion time is dependent upon the individual and can vary from a month upwards. This is a good platform before progressing to the OCD Excellence qualification. Professionals with an appropriate diploma, degree or post-graduate qualification need not complete.
SPECIALIST TRAINING PROTOCOL
We have developed our own cognitive behavioural treatment protocol based upon Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and 3rd Generation acceptance based techniques. Not only this but we have added 16 years of experience to refine and target specific subtypes.
COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT TOOLS
OCD is one of the most mis-diagnosed mental health conditions. It presents as a complicated matrix of obsessions and compulsions, any of which can change instantly. Add to this the incidence of multi-diagnoses and an accurate assessment can seem tough. We have developed assessments and tools for you to use effectively.

16 years of experience has resulted in a wealth of case studies for all presentations of OCD as part of a single or multiple diagnosis.
SKILLS WORKSHOPS & TEAMWORK
Practical, hands-on skills training is crucial to the development of any practitioner. We offer flexible weekend options for you to attend each year.
PRIVATE PRACTICE ADMINISTRATION, CLIENT GENERATION & MANAGEMENT SKILLS
For those of you wishing to move into private practice, we offer skills and standards for managing your practice and generating clients as well as ancilliary marketing, data storage, ethical and legal considerations, NICE guidelines compliance and accounting.
EVIDENCE-BASED RESEARCH & RESOURCES
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is important in all areas of healthcare and underpins the NICE guidelines and the pursuit of excellence as a practitioner. We review the external evidence: research, studies, clinical best practice guidelines in the field of OCD. EBP is consistent with continuing professional development, improved outcomes and quality standards.
PROFESSIONAL REFERRAL NETWORK
Access to specialised, qualified treatment for OCD is our goal. The UK, like most countries, has poor access to treatment. Not only are we aiming to standardise training but we are building a network of professionals who can respond quickly and effectively to those who need support and care.
